Fiona Garlick
Featured Artist
Born in England, Fiona lived in Kenya and Zimbabwe before moving to New Zealand in 1976. After a career in television, she pursued her long-held dream of studying art, training in London and Cornwall before returning home to complete a BFA (Honours) at Elam School of Fine Arts in 2008. Her sculptures often explore place, identity, and colonialism, drawing inspiration from the land and sea. Fiona has exhibited widely across New Zealand, including Sculpture in the Gardens and NZ Sculpture OnShore, and her bronze works are held in private collections in New Zealand and Australia.

Pat Foster
Featured Artist
Pat Foster (1943–2004) was a Timaru-born sculptor whose work explored universal human themes through organic forms she called “spiritual self-portraits.” Influenced by Inuit and Meso-American art, she worked mainly in wood and serpentine stone, allowing the material to shape each piece. Her sculptures are held in national and international collections, with many gifted to the Aigantighe Art Gallery for public enjoyment.
Trevor Askin
Featured Artist
Trevor Askin has been sculpting since 1980 and works from his own studio, foundry, and gallery. Initially focused on representational sculpture, he developed his signature curvilinear style—free-flowing bronze forms that are individually cast using the lost wax method. His work ranges from uplifting and whimsical to deeply expressive pieces reflecting human emotion. An elected Artist Member of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts, Askin has completed major public commissions, including the Paper-boy in Timaru and the Blacksmith at Orari. His sculptures are held in collections across New Zealand and internationally.
