Hi everyone,
I think summer arrived at the weekend, even though it is officially Autumn, what a crazy Summer it was, let’s see if Autumn is more settled.
You may have noticed that opposite Mundells, at the entrance to the Waihi River Trail, the Boardwalk, rock wall, and asphalt paving are now completed. I am waiting to hear any day that we have sign off for full public access, that is when the fencing will be removed, the surrounding area tidied up, ready for you all and visitors to our town to enjoy.
Acknowledgments – It is with grateful thanks to the project management team at Timaru District Council, Recreation Construction, Fulton Hogan, and Ricks Rock Walls for their collaborative effort in bringing this amazing structure to the Geraldine Sculpture Trail. You may be interested to know that this hard landscaping element was fully funded from Central Government, therefore your rates will not be affected.
The construction of the Boardwalk itself was led by Fergus from Recreation Construction. Fergus and his team did a sterling job making this structure second to none in its sturdiness and seamless access from street level down onto the trail. It will enable everyone including those in wheelchairs, mobility scooters and buggies access to enjoy the trail. In adhering to the Building Code and structural design parameters we have received a strong, accessible and attractive structure.
As always, I am happy to hear from you anytime,
Rosie.
