Glorious days following frosts are fabulous. Getting out and stretching your legs on one of the trails is relaxing and rejuvenating, and you never know whom you might bump into 😉
While you’re out and about, give a little thought and thanks to one of the integral people responsible for the surroundings you enjoy daily.
During the last three years of my involvement with this amazing project, I have had the immense pleasure of getting to know and work with Bill Steans, head of Parks and Reserves for Timaru District Council.
I learned recently that Bill came to work for TDC when he was 27 years old. He retires on 27 June 2025, after serving this district and the people within for 34 years. The legacy Bill leaves behind is limitless. Every green space or park, large or small, will have had his guidance and knowledge of plants. His depth of knowledge and acute eye for understanding the long-term effects are unparalleled in our district.
Bill, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We wish you a long and very happy retirement.
As always, I am happy to hear from you anytime,
Rosie.
